🤎 You’re not committing to anything by being here.

🤎 You’re simply learning how the system works.

🌿 What Early Intervention Actually Is

Early Intervention (EI) is support for children’s development during the early years. It begins with observation and questions — not labels or decisions.

Many families explore EI because they:

  • Are noticing patterns

  • Want clarity

  • Want to understand options before anything formal happens

Learning how EI works is a proactive, caring step.

Families enter Early Intervention at many different moments — there is no single “right time.”

🌿 How Early Intervention is Organized in Pennsylvania

In Pennsylvania, Early Intervention is organized by age, not by diagnosis or concern.

This means the first step is simply understanding which system applies to your child right now.

  • 👶🏽 Birth–2: Infant & Toddler Early Intervention

  • 🎒 Ages 3–5: Preschool Early Intervention

  • 🏫 Ages 5+: School-age services through your local district

Each system has different steps — and they vary slightly by county.

That’s why the pathways below are organized by both age and location.

🌿 Explore Pathways by Age & County

Start with the pathway that matches your child’s age and location.
You don’t need to read everything — just the part that applies to you.

🌱 A Gentle Reminder

You are not behind.
You are not required to act immediately.
And you are allowed to take this one step at a time.

If you’d like support walking through these steps:

  • Some families prefer a guided journey

  • Others prefer to move independently with resources

You’ll see those options when you’re ready.

Our Early Intervention guidance currently supports families in Pennsylvania, beginning with Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, so we can provide accurate, locally grounded information.
